My Writing Career

If I appear different in these two pictures, the one on the left is from a summer geology in the Black Hills of South Dakota and was taken in 1970. The picture on the right was taken at Keithley Middle School around 1998. As I moved from pencil to computer, I also honed my ability to write a good story.

I first wrote stories about my experiences in the conifer world. I also wrote about many of the people I met in that world.

After my retirement from teaching in June, 2012 I worked for several years on a book about my experiences in the classroom. I published that book in 2022 (Stack 'em Deep & Teach 'em Cheap).

Eventually, I moved on into the world of historical fiction where I have been writing stories about the old west.

Currently, I am working on my historical fiction project, which involves two books about three protagonists serving in the Civil War and later in the Seventh Cavalry in Dakota Territory.

This page on my website has links to my projects and what I call musings. My musings are articles and stories about conifers and about education.

I hope you will be a regular visitor and keep up to date with my activities.
